Alison Fixsen

Alison Fixsen is a senior lecturer in psychology at the University of Westminster. She has decades of experience in the food, health, higher education, and coaching sectors, and has authored many journal papers relating to critical mental health studies. Her book, The Construction of Eating Disorders: Psychiatry, Politics and Cultural Representations of Disordered Eating (Palgrave McMillan), examines the ways that eating disorders are perceived, spoken of, written about, and managed in contemporary society including medicine, pharmacology, media, and the food and fitness industries.
