  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

Thanks for your considered and well thought out contribution (to a thread that has been cold for a couple of weeks now, but no matter).

Please could you let me know which Fox News shows you are deriving your facts from so that I can have a laugh too.

But he is the most consistently fuck-witted person in UK politics!

If he had a bigger mouth he'd be able to get other peoples' feet in as well as his own!

    How is your car?

Sorry, mate. Regressing into regional stereotypes there for a minute. Not good.

I spent some time working in Liverpool earlier this year. Went and found the Cavern Club. I was frankly disappointed, but it's more about the history than the present, I guess.

    Nice place though.

To get back to the original post for a second...people who say
"they don't like politics" mystify me. It's not about LIKING it. People we elect to public office do things every day that influence our lives, for better or for worse. We cannot afford to ignore them, we have to pay attention and influence them if we can. Don't think of it as politics, think of it as government.

    At last! A Disciple!

No, I'm not getting my sandals on. But I'm probably going to vote Liberal Democrat or Green next time. I think there's a lot more honesty there than in the big 2, but the Libs seem to be in the process of selling their souls to image consultants at the moment, which is dissappointing.

The other alternative is the Respect coalition, but although I have a lot of time for Galloway I can't imagine what he'd be like if he had real power!

Unfortunately where I live is a safe Tory seat so whatever I do it won't make much difference on my own.

Well to give a qualified balanced individual assessment of politicians who get in to government ( or not) I think they are all wankers, and not worthy of my vote!

Think of it as life. If you elect someone who changes tax policy and it impacts on the level of housing benefit available, and there are more homeless layabouts littering your town centre as a result, then was that tax cut to your benefit? (I put that in deliberately tabloidy language for effect, by the way!)

Politicians who weren't in it for themselves:

    Tony Benn

    Arthur Scargill

    George Galloway

Ralph Nader (I'm a foreigner but he seems like a pretty straight guy).

See the connection? All to the left of centre. Why? because the "Right of Centre" politicians are all in it for themselves!

So Galloway has not made himself rich out of his publicity then?

    Let's see:
Here's my answer, and any avid history person would understand why.

Herbert Hoover. He had the misfortune of a stock market crash in his lap, though.

He had many ideas to get this country back into a steamrolling economy, but it failed because of distaste and feelings that he could solve the problem single-handedly. FDR came along and wiped up what Hoover started. New Deals for employment, cheap electricity (yes, an idea Hoover came up with, Hoover Dam anybody?)

Not only was he a decent president, he was a very, very intelligent man. They say he's probably the smartest person to ever hold office, not the best, but definitely the smartest.

And, Representative Gus Blackwell from Oklahoma. He helps a lot with our district with education, unemployment (which has seen much better returns in the employment) and he seems to care about the people. I'm sure he's got a few corrupt bones, but he doesn't have a whole lot of power, either. He just helps us along out here in the barren wasteland that the rest of the country seems to forget.

Nader lost me when he ensured Bush's election in 2000. He seems not to realize even now what an unmitigated disaster that was.:???:
